The Performance Years
From 1979 to 1986, I performed more than a dozen art pieces in Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan, and New York City. It began as an expression of frustration about not finding outlets to exhibit paintings. I spent the next seven years completing a cycle of disciplines that took me through soliloquies and monologues, dance and choreography, music and vocal performances and multimedia compositions. After experiencing the difficulties of arranging performances in New York, plus the lack of personal transportation and a network of friends for at-the-ready performers, I ended the effort in 1986.
